Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
The Appalachian College of Pharmacy (ACP) is Virginia’s only three-year Doctor of Pharmacy program. Located in Oakwood, Virginia, ACP’s mission focus is on addressing the health-related needs of rural and/or underserved populations in Appalachia. The philosophy of the College is to cultivate a learning community committed to the education and professional development of pharmacists, community service and encouragement of scholarship to support the long term goals and vision of the College.
The College seeks to expand its leadership team by adding qualified individuals to guide the ongoing development of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Department Chairs have the overall management responsibility for the faculty and programs of education, research and service in the department. The Chair is a member of the administrative leadership team and report directly to the Dean of the College.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to pharmacy education, service, and research. The Chair will provide direction in curriculum development, delivery, and assessment; departmental budget planning and management; teaching within the Doctor of Pharmacy program; faculty recruitment, mentoring, professional development and evaluation; research and scholarly work; and community and professional outreach.
Candidates for the Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences department should have an earned doctorate in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences or other Pharmacy related degree; demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and eligibility for rank as associate professor or professor.
